About CBR
CBR is the official Dutch institute responsible for the practical driving and theory exams. Apart from the existing exams in Dutch, CBR also administers theory exam in Englisch. In addition, an individual oral exam is possible with the assistance of an interpreter. We will help you with the whole process of signing up for the official exams. Driver licence exchange in the Netherlands
Driving licences issued by countries outside of the European Union (EU) or the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) must be exchanged within six months of the holder’s registration in the Netherlands, assuming they are still valid. Compliance with Dutch traffic regulations and laws is crucial. Wilco van Es, a consultant and instructor at Verkeersschool Cordewener, provides detailed advice on navigating this process effectively. He will cover various aspects, including the requirements for exchanging a foreign driving licence, the necessary documentation, and the steps to follow. Verkeersschool Cordewener also offers preparatory courses and practical driving lessons tailored to obtaining a Dutch driving licence. These courses are especially beneficial for individuals who were initially licensed in a non-EU/EFTA country and need to adapt to the driving style and traffic regulations in the Netherlands.

I have only good things to say about Driving School Maastricht! As someone who had major phobia of driving and anxiety on the road, taking lessons with this school has helped me become more confident and pass the exam.I took lessons with a few instructors. At first I took lessons on a mechanic car with instructor Melanie. She was very precise and methodical but also compassionate and patient. We focused a lot on technique, which was helpful for me to become more in control of the car and feel less scared.Then I switched to automatic with instructor Kevin with whom I practiced until I passed the test. Kevin is someone who pays attention to his students and listens to their needs and concerns. He is someone very kind and patient which creates a safe atmosphere in the car. That really helped me feel the most comfortable and get over the fear to drive. Whenever something went wrong he took the time to explain it objectively and give advice without any judgement. With Kevin I also learned real-world driving with different situations on the road where I was enabled to develop my skill to solve such situations on my own in a safe way. Whether you already have some experience driving, or have some fears, I recommend Kevin because he understands and adapts to the student's needs well.I also want to mention Wilco and Pascal. With Wilco I had a mock exam. He is very knowledgeable and experienced and he gave me objective feedback & helpful advice. With Pascal I drove a few times and it was also always a pleasure, he gave good advice and helped me adopt a better mindset towards driving.As for the administration of the school I can say that even if there were a few problems, the communication was good and we could solve it effectively 🙏

Kevin was my instructor for learning automatic, and my experience was very positive. Kevin was always very attentive to how I was driving and was able to identify and help me work through difficulties I’d have, ranging from “how do I parallel park properly” to “how do I actually ‘plan ahead’?” He would also take the time to analyze situations we were in and decisions I made after the fact, which was very helpful in making sure I really learned from them.He was also very willing to work with me and my schedule. As a medical student my availability was very narrow, but we always managed to work something out with a little finagling.As a person, Kevin was also very easy to interact with, and overall is a very nice person, which made the overall experience of learning to drive much more pleasant. And In terms of English, there were no difficulties in communication, everything was very clear.It took me five times taking the practical exam to finally pass, and Kevin was very supportive the entire journey. Each time we would talk afterwards and formulate a plan to improve in the next few classes, and we would actually follow through. And importantly, I never got the impression that it was a “scam” for them to have me take more classes; Kevin always did his best, and made sure I would do the same.Taking the exam 5 times wasn’t fun but learning to drive with Kevin and this company was a definitely positive experience, and I would recommend it to anyone

My experience with this driving school was exactly what I wished for! It has been a pleasant experience thanks to a very calm, friendly, respectful and incredibly supportive instructor - Bruce. I’ve been with this driving school for a year and a half. I passed my theory in one go with their theory course and passed my practical exam on the second try. My instructor Melanie did a really good job in preparing me for my exams. She trained me in the exam routes, provided demos for maneuvers, and overall supported me throughout my journey. When it comes to your progress, she is firm and honest, but that is what you need to learn and succeed. Would recommend this school for english speakers.

I had a great experience learning to drive with Melanie. From the very beginning she taught me to drive in a structured manner, and even recording demos of the required manouvers. I could always watch these back and learn from them, same goes for her notes and drawings she would make each class for me. Tom was my driving instructor, and he was fantastic—patient, supportive, and incredibly knowledgeable. I decided to choose this driving school because my spouse had attended it before and was generally satisfied. However, my spouse already had a license, while I was starting from scratch. I was prepared for a long process.At this school, I ended up working with five different instructors. That alone might give you an idea of the challenges I faced. I had to switch instructors several times, mostly due to reasons beyond my control. Three instructors left the school because they either moved, quit, or didn’t have availability anymore. Waiting for a new instructor took a lot of time, and during this period, I felt like I lost both progress and time. Additionally, each new instructor takes time to get to know you and understand your learning needs.I personally requested a change for one instructor because I realized I needed someone with a calmer approach. Finally, I met Kevin, who turned out to be an amazing instructor. One of the best things about Kevin is his personalized teaching style. He truly gets to know you and adapts his methods to your specific needs. It’s clear that he loves what he does. He was always patient, incredibly supportive, and guided me step by step with effective techniques. Communication with Kevin was always open and straightforward, which made the learning experience even better. If you get the chance, I highly recommend requesting Kevin as your instructor.One thing to note about the school is that they’re not very flexible with scheduling. For instance, if your instructor is sick, your lesson might get canceled, or in one case, an instructor forgot about my lesson entirely. On the other hand, if you’re sick, you can’t cancel the lesson without paying the full fee. These are important technical details to keep in mind.Despite these challenges, I believe that having a good instructor can make all the difference in your experience, and Kevin definitely made mine worthwhile.

I had around 40 lessons with instructor Tom, and unfortunately moved away from Maastricht before being able to get my lisence but I had a good experience with this driving school. It was always easy to plan lessons and we had good contact which I appreciated. Made it look like years of experience were given by communicating comprehensive about different kind of situations. Très bonne école de conduite pour les élèves internationaux comme moi. J'ai commencé les cours de conduite avec Pascal en mars/avril 2023, j'ai obtenu mon examen théorique en octobre 2023 et est obtenu mon permis en février 2024 avec 36h de conduite. Même si l'école devrait s'améliorer à répondre aux email, les appels sont toujours pris en compte, soit en anglais soit en néerlandais. La voiture qui nous est prêté est très accommodante pour apprendre a conduire, là où d'autres écoles donnent leur leçons de conduite sur des Mercedes... Pascal est un très bon instructeur de confiance. Il a su m'apprendre a conduire dans les règles, et a m'aider a corriger mes erreurs suite à l'examen pratique blanc, me permettant ainsi d'obtenir mon vrai permis.

I started my driving license adventure with a manual vehicle and continued with an automatic vehicle with the correct guidance of my instructors. I learned a lot thanks to instructors with different teaching methods. I am happy that I chose to work with Driving School Maastricht in this process. Hi! I have passed my drivers test and I’m an so happy! Driving School Maastricht is very professional and organised. I found it convenient that you are collected and dropped off from your home. Moreover, I loved having Bruce as my driving instructor - very calm, patient and funny. Towards the very end, I also had Monique and she was excellent in building my confidence for the exam. Overall, very rewarding to finally get my Dutch drivers lisence and grateful for all of the help. Thank You!

I had a few driving instructors and they were all good, however my last instructor Pascal helped me the most, because he quickly saw my issues in driving and helped me to finally pass my practical exam. I recommend this driving school.

I had my lessons with Pascal, and I'm happy to say I just passed my exam today! I had never sat in behind the wheel of a car in my whole life and Pascal helped me to go from zero to hero! I only have good things to say about Driving School Maastricht. Everything went smoothly since the beginning, preparation for the theory exam (which I passed on the first time), planning of driving lessons, all done with honesty and professionalism. My driving instructor Pascal is super experienced and friendly and his lessons prepared me very well for the practical exam. Of course I passed on the first time. Pascal is very patient and he is always giving tricks and tips on how to deal and react in a safe way to all kinds of situations on the road. It was always very easy to make arrangements for driving lessons with the school and Pascal.I definitely recommend Driving School Maastricht.

I’ve had the pleasure of learning to drive together with Pascal. He is a very experienced driver who is always aware of the surroundings. As a teacher I see him as a perfectionist of the craft of driving. Although it was not an easy journey, he was an amazing instructor and he was the main factor why I passed my exams. Excellent driving school for internationals, providing lots of support and honest advice on your driving.I was lucky to have Pascal as my driving instructor who has lots of experience and was able to share it with me with no issues. I had a little drama with one of the instructors, but in the end Maurice was my instructor and he helped me to pass my exam! Maurice is a very calm and patient instructor! Driving with him was not under pressure but super fun! It was the best learning experience ever!! These guys are the best!! Ask for Maurice!! He is a patient teacher who is very objective in evaluating your driving level. This driving school is not the type that milks you with unnecessary lessons. The team is honest, very efficient, fluent in multiple languages and teaches you exactly what you need to pass!! I would recommend them any day!!

Very caring and kind driving school overall, who helped me to obtain my license. The frequent change of driving instructors was distracting from obtaining my license, but COVID-19 was also to blame. While one instructor wasn’t helpful to me as they were on their phone during driving lessons, others (including Maurice who was my instructor at the end) really did their best - many fun car rides with them. My criticism is for not having been informed of some fees and some miscommunication, which could be improved through clear communication in advance - for example not knowing that the ride to the CBR on the day of the actual practice exam usually counts as one fully booked hour (I had not been told that before). I think some guiding advice in the first few weeks with the driving school could’ve been nice - for example on the order of theory and driving - a personalized draft schedule (on when what should be absolved) could’ve been helpful for example. To conclude: nice people at Drivingschool Maastricht!

Hello Everyone, My experience was really amazing my instructor was Maurice which i think is the best in Maastricht bcz i also went to other driving schools in Maastricht but when i met Maurice he was calm, knowledgeable and the best instructor who can teach to driving from scratch. I would say if you are looking for a good instructor then close your eyes and go for Maurice. He can teach you in English as well as dutch in Manual or Automatica.

I definitely recommend Driving School Maastricht! Their support throughout my whole driving experience has allowed me to pass my practical exam in my first try! Maurice is a professional helpful , and heartwarming instructor. Highly recommend if you are an expat and want to get a Dutch driving license. The school made the process of obtaining my license in the Netherlands easy and manageable. I worked with three different instructors and learned something from each of them. Maurice was very patient and supportive throughout the whole process and helped me build up the confidence that finally enabled me to pass the driving test.
